Norden Camp

Gannan, China

Set at 3,200 meters above sea level on the Tibetan grasslands of Gansu, China, Norden Camp offers a secluded retreat rooted in Tibetan nomadic traditions and nature. Founded in 2013 and reimagined in 2025, the elevated camp features nine thoughtfully designed timber cabins, crafted using reclaimed wood, traditional Tibetan joinery, and locally woven yak wool textiles. Surrounded by rolling hills, wildflower meadows, and winding streams, Norden invites guests to experience the rhythms of life on the Tibetan Plateau through local cuisine, cultural encounters, and moments of quiet contemplation.

Beyond the camp, the vast Tibetan Plateau reveals a landscape shaped by centuries of nomadic life, where grazing herds, ancient monasteries, and distant mountain ranges define the horizon. Here, the passage of time is measured by the changing light, shifting seasons, and rhythms of the natural world. An invitation to discover a quieter perspective on travel, one rooted in a profound sense of place.
